Nika Špan - "Pin-up"

Der Umstand, dass dieser Raum -der „Gelbe Salon“ - ebenso wie die anderen Räume in der geschichtlichen Entwicklung ihre ursprüngliche Funktion verloren haben, wird von der Künstlerin als auffällige Leere empfunden. „Mit dieser historisch dekorierten, pathetischen Leere, die mich nicht mehr los ließ, habe ich mich weiter befasst und diesen realen Raum, der unmöglich geworden ist, zu einem Raum des Möglichen gemacht. Der Gelbe Salon wird er selbst und gleichzeitig lebensgroßes Modell.“

Mit Styropor-Platten wird ein 1:1 Modell des Raums hergestellt. Durch farbige Klebebänder und unterschiedliche Plattenfarben referenziert die Installation auf Architekturelemente des Raumes und kann gleichzeitig als Bild gelesen werden.

The fact that this room - the “Yellow Room” - has, like all other rooms, lost their original function in the course of events struck the artist as a gaping void. “I went on to deal with this historically decorated, melodramatic emptiness, which I could not get out of my mind, turning this real room, which had become impossible, into a room of possibility. The Yellow Room has become itself and at the same time a life-size model.”

A mock-up of the room was produced using polystyrene boards. With its coloured adhesive bands and differently coloured boards, the installation refers back to the architectural elements in the room, and can also be read as its image.

Stanje tega prostora - „Rumenega salona“ - kot tudi vseh drugih prostorov, ki so v procesu zgodovinskega razvoja izgubili svoj izvorni namen, doživlja umetnica kot vpadljivo praznino. „S to zgodovinsko dekorirano, patetično praznino, ki se je nisem mogla več otresti, sem se spoprijela in iz tega, tako imenovanega realnega prostora, ki je postal ne-mogoč, naredila prostor mogočega. Rumeni salon je (p)ostal on sam in hkrati model v naravni velikosti.“

Model prostora v merilu 1:1 je narejen iz stiropornih plošč. S ploščami različnih barv in barvnimi lepilnimi trakovi se instalacija navezuje na arhitekturne elemente prostora in jo istočasno lahko beremo tudi kot sliko.
